Best boots or wellies for dog walking??

I want to get some good boots or wellies for when it gets wet and wintery... No fun walking the dogs in trainers when it's muddy! I ideally want something that won't be too uncomfortable to walk a few miles in, but also sturdy enough to not get my feet soaking wet or make me slip over in mud, ice or snow???

Any suggestions?

I have to also agree with Muck Boots. I have the Tay version and they are very sturdy and comfortable. The only niggle I have is that they look a bit clompy and are very warm, so better for the really cold weather.

I used to love Hunters and still do have a couple of pairs, but they just don't seem to last any more and both mine now leak ... so no use at all.

I also have a really good pair of Meindl walking boots (they are Austrian paratrooper boots) and they are very comfy and waterproof. They are quite heavy though.

What's the benefits of muck boots over other brands? Do they have a good grip?

Brashers walking boots, they have lasted much longer than any of my other boots.

My friend bought a pair on ebay for half the price I paid.

Dewent mid muck boots

Not cheap, I asked for a pair for my birthday, but I absolutely love them. Comfy and warmer than wellies, but keep your feet as dry as wellies. Highly recommend

I've got a pair of these walking Merrell boots:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Merrell-Wate...8452579&sr=8-1

They are very sturdy and the grip is brilliant. They are also very comfortable and much better fitting than cheaper walking shoes that I have wasted money on in the past. I wouldn't say they are reliably 100% waterproof though.

I paid over £70 but you can get them for a fair deal cheaper now.

For wellies, I have Derwent Muck Boots:

I must have had them for at least 3 years now and they are still in great condition. If you are not used to wearing wellies (or wearing cheaper ones), they feel quite chunky to wear at first but you quickly get used to it. They have a good grip, are comfy to wear and keep your feet warm.

I went through years of freezing feet by wearing Hunters (which split every 6 months!) so Muck Boots are brilliant by comparison. If the boots are getting daily usage for a large chunk of the year, it is well worth spending that bit extra and getting a decent pair.

I have also heard good things about Le Chameau wellies and Aigle wellies, but can't speak for them as I have never tried them.
