Lola - Yorkie x

Lola is a 6 year old yorkie cross and is currently on foster in Pontypridd, South Wales.

The Lola Fact File
Dog status: Currently good but getting better all the time. Lola is under socialised and is just getting used to being around other dogs.
Cat status: Unknown
Child status: lola will need a child free home
House training: Very good
Home alone: Happy to be left for short periods. Would not suit a full time worker.
Basic training: Lola knows sit, wait and no, her loose lead walking is improving all the time and she is learning to recall.

Lola has lived a very sheltered life for a long time and this has affected her social skills with other dogs. Lola can introduce herself appropriately to other dogs big and small. If off lead and excited she does tend to run at them and can run into them. She allows them to sniff her and more often than not will just walk away. If she is on lead she does tend to bark and lunge forward, so where possible its best to walk over for introductions. Once she has got to know the dog she is very sociable with them. She has been living with a larger male dog in her foster home and has previously lived with a smaller male dog. Lola will need a new home who are willing to get her out and about to socialise with other dogs to continue practising her new found social skills.
Lola has not lived with another cat and by the grand old age of 6 she may be a little too old to learn. It may be a possibility with a very confident cat and an owner experienced in canine and feline introductions with adult dogs.

Lola will be looking for a home without children. She has had some very negative experiences in the past with children who have crowded her space and treated her like a doll. She can be defensive if treated in this way and is not comfortable in the company of children. She will be looking for an adult only home who would take care if children visit the home.
Lola is very good with adults and will make a very affectionate and loving companion for somebody. She loves tickles and will lie on her back for a belly rub. Lola is not happy with new people picking her up but will allow this once she knows you.

Lola loves to be out and about and is enjoying her new found freedom. However, when she is at home she is not demanding, just settling herself down or pottering around with her foster mum. She loves company and would like a new home with someone around a lot. She would not like to live with a full time worker.

Lola is changing and coming out of her shell more every day. She is learning that she does not have to be a diva and try to force herself on other dogs and she is being gradually exposed to more people and the wider world. She will continue to blossom with her new owner.

Lola has a few health issues that a new home would need to be aware of. She has a small hernia which has been there for some time without causing issues or impeding her in any way. There is a possibility that this may require a surgical repair in the future.
Lola arrived in our care with a bad ear infection which is currently being treated, her ears will need to be looked at and cleaned regularly.
She has had a few extractions in the past and is now missing a few teeth. Her remaining teeth are in excellent condition.
Lola can make coughing and 'piggy' noises when on the lead, this could be a sign of future issues such as a collapsing trachea or elongated palette. Lola is walked on a harness to ease pressure on her throat. She has had full checks of the heart and lungs etc and is in excellent form.

We will not be asking our usual rehoming donation for Lola, instead a donation can be made at the new adopters discretion.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
