Guess the Breed - Please help!

I had to have my dog put to sleep yesterday after 16 years of ownership, I've had him since I was a little boy and he even had the privilege of meeting my little boys as I got older.

He will be missed dearly..All I know is his mother was a collie cross. Can anyone help me identify the other breed/breeds in him?

Aw I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your old boy He looks lovely.
My guess would have been a GSD cross

Hey thanks for the welcome...I had thought of that myself. I found this little beauty;

http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction.../25241490.html

But then found about there ears would go pointy like GSD as the owner kept a few pups from the previous litter. Too good to be true

Bruno NEVER chewed as a pup and I never recall him pooping in the house?! He'll be missed, he had a massive fan club.

I can't stop thinking "Did I have him put to sleep too early" he still wanted to catch a ball

However his legs went a few times, he needed help getting up off of the floor, he was peeing and drinking constantly, covered in lumps and was panting all the time. Should I have waiting until he looked like his was "really really" dying?

Yes, but having 3 little boys all under the age of 5 I'd worry with a dog I didn't personally bring up

I'm sure you knew him best and you instinctively knew when the right time was for him to go. Better a little too soon than a moment too late. He sounds like a lovely dog and I'm sure he'll be great missed.

Do perhaps consider a rescue if you are planning on getting a cross breed
Eta many sites like many tears have lots of puppies for rescue it's just a suggestion to look in to

Thanks....I used to be a vet nurse assisting on PTS's every day, nothing can prepare you for when the time comes with your own dog though.
