Healthy kong fillings

Hi,

I am going away soon and have to leave my poochies at home

I have two kongs and want to stuff them with healthy food & dinner to keep them occupied.

calleigh has problems with storage/dust mites as well as other skin problems and is on a fish diet. She can eat fresh meat as well though but main food is fish for her skin.

Can anyone recommend a healthy homemade filler for my dogs kongs, I was looking at the tuna cake but wondered if their was anything else I could use as it will be for 5-7 days.

Rachel

I presume someone is coming in on daily basis to care for them? If you ask them to refill the Kongs and put them in the freezer for the next day, they'll last a lot longer

Low fat cream cheese
Tinned fish
Mashed potato
Scrambled egg
Kibble and water/home made gravy (frozen)
Tripe (stinky )
Porridge

I feed it frozen so it doesn't smell too bad, and then Cain doesn't leave a scrap so no problem I only ever come home to Kongs that have had every inch licked clean!

Hi all,

I've got family staying for most of the week and then someone coming a number of times a day to check on them for a few days...I would rather them have something to keep them occupied as as much as they like the company of visitors, they really miss me and have been a bit distructive in the past

Thankyou to you all for your suggestions
Rachel

got to be honest, i usually put tinned dog meat in it or dry kibble - she just loves the challenge of getting it out. I've tried tuna before but she couldn't get the last bit out and sat there crying at it for half an hour.
We just got her from the kennels after going on holiday and for breakfast they give the dogs oats and toast (with a little butter for fussys) Millie would only eat buttered toast so i've been thinking of putting that in her kong as it will be sweet and with the bread going soft it will make it a challenge for her
