Discussions arising from photo threads - your thoughts?

Hi Guys

As many of you know, we have a few additional rules regarding photo threads - where they should not be turned into debates. However, sometimes, some things should not go unflagged or commented about. So how do we deal with this issue?

Any suggestions? Shall we drop the rule? Or go by the precedence set by the OP... if they seem to be 'discussing' things themselves in the thread surely that should mean anyone can join in the discussion?

Anyway, interested in your thoughts!

How about usingicons like you do in the more serious sections like the question mark & the discussion symbol?

Could something like that be applied then the OP could decide if thy want anything in their photo thread to be discussed. People would then get an idea if its for comments or up for discussion.

I dont know, just a thought

I think you make a good point, sometimes a picture thread will throw up something , that others may find important to flag up.

maybe drop the rule all together and see how it goes.

Nah, keep it as it is, it's so annoying when you post pictures and somebody starts ranting on your thread, they usually do end up going and starting up their own thread in the right section which is easier on the whole. I think it should be kept the way it is. This thread is probably enough to remind the usual culprits.

I think the rule could be dropped, and then maybe moderate/monitor a thread if something gets out of hand? Maybe close/lock the thread if it goes too far, as the photos can still then be seen.

Keep it---if anyone feels strongly they can start a new thread to discuss it.

The last thing you want to do is put more people off posting pictures.

Haha, well if you start preaching and ranting on one of my photo threads I'd tell you don't worry
