Henry has a new best friend

We went to our friends house for tea last night, they insisted we take Hen rather than leave him here with a sitter. They have a lovely 4 yr old x-breed called Harold, I think he is colliexbeagle as he has a beagle face and markings, he is a real sweetie. The boys have never met each other so we had no idea how they would react, we just knew they were both lovely lads and hoped they would get on.

Anyway, Henry has been a bit wary of dogs since he keeps getting attacked, and I was really worried how he would react in this dogs home, Henry has grumbled at a couple of dogs that have approached him with their tails in the air, and I just didn't want to put him in the position that he felt out of his depth or worried.

I needn't have worried, the moment they set eyes on each other it was hi-jinks, they didn't stop charging around and playing some sort of wrestling game for the whole 3 1/2 hours we were there. They didn't even stop when we were eating to see if there were any titbits to share.

For the last hour we sat in the lounge, I had to put Hen on his lead then as neither of them would leave the other alone, at one point Harold shimmied around the edge of the room, right up against the walls as if to fool everyone that he wasn't making a beeline for Hen, he then pounced, Henry rolled over upside down like a wuss and the wrestling began again, we had to move Harold as the furniture was about to go flying with their antics. They laid facing each other, touching each others paws and wagging their tails.

I really enjoyed seeing him running free with an equally soppy dog...it has put my reservations about getting him a companion at some stage completely out the window, seeing how much pleasure he had in the company of Harold.

Thanks Jane We hope that we will meet up again soonwith our friends, they've lived there for over a year and we kept meaning to go over. It's nice to know that we can take Hen with us so can go over literally at the drop of a hat

Thanks so much..I'm so pleased for him and me, I was starting to think I had a dog that other dogs simply wanted to attack, although he has a number of friends that we meet up with on walks, it was lovely seeing him offlead and charging around in the garden...their little faces said it all

Can just image this Sheree, Kyesh and Jaz has a special friend, she is anothewr ES but when we go there, Jaz lies in the middle of the lawn and Livvie and Kyesh just reun and jump, and of course Ky jumps in the pond comes coverewd in duck weed.
Kyesh has also got some dogs that growl and snarl at him as soon as they see him, we have gone in the field to get away from them. Off lead everything is fine though..
Big huggs for Hen, from all up here in North Wales.

What a wonderful experience for you, Sheree - and for Henry who sounds like he had a blast! Can it be repeated.....often?

What a lovely time Henry had (and Harold of course). I just love to see dogs playing with each other.
