What does being a Dog Lover mean to you?

Inspired by the horse racing thread, I thought I'd ask - what does being a Dog Lover actually mean, to you?

That you love dogs?

To me it means caring about dogs, and not just my own dog - and putting them first wherever reasonably possible.

Of course I don't mean literally looking after everyone else's dogs (wish I had the money to!) I mean looking out for the welfare of dogs, that they are not exploited, that they are cared for and given the respect they deserve as a living creature. And providing companionship and everything else my own dog needs.

It's about stopping the car if I notice a stray - and trying to find their owner.

Campaigning or supporting groups or causes that I feel are acting in the best interests of dogs.

Doing my bit to help educate owners on how to care for their dogs.

...and what does that entail/mean?

I think to me it means trying to make sure that dogs as a species have a decent deal and that as individuals they should have the right to certain things and that I can try in a small way in my corner of the earth to support that.

I can't change many things or save all the dogs I come into contact with, if I tried I would end up having a breakdown, all I can do is help a bit and look after the ones who end up here as well as I can.

dog lover....Someone whose very fond of dogs, and spends a lot of time and money on them- to make them as happy and comfortable as they can.
