Embarassment and Anger all in one walk!

I had a very eventful walk with Monty this evening for mixed reasons.

The first incident was embarassment - Monty has obviously eaten something that disagreed with him and has had a dire rear today so was more frequent than usual today which in itself didn't embarass me. It was the massive fart he did whilst trying to go which he seemed to time perfectly just as a nice little old lady walked past. She definitely heard it as i saw her snigger as she walked past. I just hung my head in shame and hoped she didn't think it was me!!

The second incident really pee'd me off. Walking back along the road and now back on the lead a lady walked past with a small dog and I made Monty sit and wait to let her past as the pavement was narrow. She stopped and asked if Monty was friendly as she was socialising her young dog so I said he was and the dogs had a sniff and said hello. She then stroked Monty and I noticed that as she was stroking him the hand she was using also had a lit cigarette in it. I gave a light pull on Monty's lead which he knows to mean come away and he came and stood back beside me and i said we had to be on our way and walked on. I didn't say anything to the woman about the cigarette as I thought that maybe I was over-reacting but wish I had now.

What would've you done in the same situation? I personally don't think it's acceptable to stroke someone's dog with a lit cigarette in the same hand you're using to stroke the dog

Are you sure it was Monty that farted?

I think it is outrageous that somebody stroked your dog with a cigarette in her hand. Totally unacceptable and I'm afraid I would have said something.

I checked him over when I got home just to be sure but know he probably would've yelped if she had caught him with it.

oh I remember walking Loui along the street and he was 'needing' this guy was out doing his flower bed which was right at the edge of the pavement, loui stated farting with every step and the guy just looked at me - he must have thought it was me! And didnt his farting just stop the second he looked up - even I had to laugh once we were past, I'm convinced that guy thought it was me!!

Shame he didn't fart whilst the woman's cigarette was in the vicinity of his backside! She would have been blasted with a blue jet propelled flame, which would have taught her a much-needed lesson!!

I always think one of the benefits of having dogs is that you can always blame them - for smell, sound or preferably both!!

LOL @ Monty and Loui - well you owners - fancy blaming them!

Our Louie is the only one who you can hear fart - the others are silent but deadly! But wet farts are disgusting - especially from a puppy - hilarious but disgusting - and ugh - he's just done one

The silent fart is DEFINITELY the worst.

Second only to the "puff". Hal would occasionally just do this little "puff" where his tail slightly lifted, shortly to be followed by the most ghastly smell imagineable!!

We had a labrador who would drop noisy farts, and he would whip round and growl at his bottom!!
