Poor woman, what a tragic waste of a life Obviously it was doubtful that she could have cared for the dog by herself but surely between the son and the carer, they could have worked something out so that she could keep or at least spend some time with her dog?

My son, who had severe mental health issues, found his dog a lifeline. Non-judgemental, always loving, always there.
This lady could have been monitored and helped to keep her dog, who she`d cared for perfectly well for 6 years. She had support workers who could have helped.
I agree with the Coroner. This was a high-handed and un-necessary act by the lady from the Rescue, and a dangerous precendent.
She may well have been developing dementia - although the post-op medication she was on could well have contributed to her mental state. But is that a reason to remove her best (if not her only) friend.
I find this deeply disturbing. It sends out an awful message - if you go into hospital, don`t approach the Rescue for help looking after your dogs because you won`t get them back.

I agree with Claire/Daisy. Situation coukd have been monitored. Dogs been in one to one for 6 years, must be scary & bewildering for her as well. Very sad situation. Poor lady & poor dog.

Very sad. I too also feel there could of been a way around this rather than taking the dog, the situation could have been avoided.
