Questions for canine care and behaviour course
Hi All,As some of you know, I am doing a course in canine care and behaviour.
Some of you have already very kindly helped me out in the past by answering my questions for the course so I'm asking more questions in the hope that someone will help!
I'm looking for ten sets of answers but any help that anyone can give will be very much appreciated.
A1 What is the age / gender / breed of your dog. Is it neutered?
A2 Are there any rooms in your home which the dog is never allowed into?
A3 Does your dog follow you around at home a lot?
A4 Does your dog prefer to sit close to you whenever it can?
A5 Do you allow your dog to be with you as much as it wants to?
A6 How much petting / attention does your dog receive in the home?
A7 Do you regularly practice obedience training with your dog?
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog? Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?

No

She likes to know where I am.
A4 Does your dog prefer to sit close to you whenever it can?
Yes
A5 Do you allow your dog to be with you as much as it wants to?
Yes
A6 How much petting / attention does your dog receive in the home?
As much as she wants - morning greetings and evening play and cuddle usually
A7 Do you regularly practice obedience training with your dog?
yes
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
yes
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog?
once a day
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Ballie, searching and Tuggy
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
no
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
only in play
B3 Does your dog ever refuse to come in from the garden or out from under the furniture?
no
B4 How good is your dogs at coming when you call it – perfect
B5 Is your dog's behaviour as calm and non-aggressive around the house as you would like –
usually - visitors are controlled as she is a guarding breed.

approx five years, female, terrier x, neutered

No, is left for some of the time when I go out, n is sometimes in anohter room if workmen etc are here

Do not overly pett n fuss

Yes
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
No
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog? Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
Yes, once or twice a day n weekends
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Find it, ball, any game really
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
No
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
No n don't let others take things from her unless to prevent possible harm
B3 Does your dog ever refuse to come in from the garden or out from under the furniture?
Not very often
B4 How good is your dogs at coming when you call it – perfect, pretty good, not good, terrible?
Pretty good, does most of time
B5 Is your dog's behaviour as calm and non-aggressive around the house as you would like – always / usually / rarely / never?
usually, post or some one at door gets bit overexcited

Aged 8, female, Saluki and neutered

No

Not really unless it is close to walk time
A4 Does your dog prefer to sit close to you whenever it can?
Sometimes but usually prefer their own beds.
A5 Do you allow your dog to be with you as much as it wants to?
Yes
A6 How much petting / attention does your dog receive in the home?
As much as they want.
A7 Do you regularly practice obedience training with your dog?
No - don't need to as they are both very good.
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
Yes (2)
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
Three times a day, every day regardless.
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Tug of war with toys and generally playing with each other.
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
No never
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
No never
B3 Does your dog ever refuse to come in from the garden or out from under the furniture?
If someone strange in the house the Saluki who is frightened of people may sometimes go to her other bed in the bedroom and I leave it up to her when she reappears. Never pressurise her.
B4 How good is your dogs at coming when you call it – perfect, pretty good, not good, terrible?
Both perfect.
B5 Is your dog's behaviour as calm and non-aggressive around the house as you would like – always / usually / rarely / never?
Always

Most of the time yes

Loads, it's on constant here

Every day

Yes, two
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog? Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
Twice a day every day come rain or shine
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Hiding Treats around the house & garden. Ball fetch. Tuggy
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
Never, ever ever!
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
Never, ever ever!
B3 Does your dog ever refuse to come in from the garden or out from under the furniture?
Never, but happened once from the garden when she was sick.

Perfick!

always, until we get a visitor, but it soon subsides

Aged 23 months, male, German Shepherd, not neutered.
Aged 34 months, female, German Shepherd, neutered
Aged 12 years, male, German Shepherd x Husky, neutered.

No
A3 Does your dog follow you around at home a lot?
Female follows me everywhere, the other 2 vary.
A4 Does your dog prefer to sit close to you whenever it can?
Yes always.
A5 Do you allow your dog to be with you as much as it wants to?
Yes
A6 How much petting / attention does your dog receive in the home?
As much petting and attention that they want, whenever they want it.
A7 Do you regularly practice obedience training with your dog?
Yes, every day, more now for fun as they are well trained.
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
Yes we have 3.
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog? Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
Yes, three times a day, long walks morning and evening and short walk at lunch time.
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Tug of war with their kong, chasing their ball, and chasing each other.
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
Not near their food bowl.
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
Only once when we first tried to take something from him, and he has never done it again.

The 2 youngest are perfect, the old boy.............. well he is old and has a bit of husky in him !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, everywhere.

Yes.
A5 Do you allow your dog to be with you as much as it wants to?
Yes.

As much as he wants.
A7 Do you regularly practice obedience training with your dog?
Try to!
A8 Do you have more than one dog?
I only own one dog but I always have multiple dogs in the house boarding and for daycare.
A9 Do you regularly exercise your dog? Eg once / twice a day / at weekends / never?
Regularly at least twice a day.
A10 What games does your dog like to play?
Chase, fetch (sort of), tuggy, 'find it'.
B1 Has your dog ever growled at you near its food bowl or at any other time?
No never.
B2 Has your dog ever growled at you or anyone else when you tried to take something away?
No, never.
B3 Does your dog ever refuse to come in from the garden or out from under the furniture?
No. He always wants to be with me around the house.
B4 How good is your dogs at coming when you call it – perfect, pretty good, not good, terrible?
At home perfect. Out on walks, not good if there are distractions.

Always.

He is occasionally stopped (lock the doors)

A bit - he is not really an 'Affectionate' dog.

Yes

Yes - At least once a day.

Occasionally fetch, sometimes Tug
