Axel's 1st PROPER off-lead walk!!!

Hi!
I'm VERY excited, yesterday we took the plunge of having him properly off-lead. We have a mostly enclosed field near our house (3 exits) and the canal leads off. We had our friends hold Axel and Dave and I ran to the other side, they let him go and he flew to us! He then spent most of the walk (only held when other dogs coming) off-lead and we did some practice at calling him and turning around, he got really good at keeping an eye on us and didn't wander far at all!
I know it's only his first one, but he did so well and we are so proud of him!

I know we still need to work on it in future, but it's a great first step. He could've ran anywhere, but he chose not to, bless him, must like us a little!

Running full pelt towards us...

Enjoying his freedom

This is how close he generally chose to stay to us

With Joy, my regular walking buddy

My gorgeous boy

Well done! He's gorgeous!

We've had our two for 18 months now and let them off on an enclosed field so they have a good run around 2-3 times a week, but we've not let them off out on a normal walk.

Well done Axel and well done you! He's come on in leaps and bounds and the fact he ran back to you when he got a taste of freedom shows what a bond he has with you.
