Endometriosis - any other sufferers?

After years of going back and forth I have recently been diagnosed with severe endometriosis.

Of course this means that trying for a baby will be much harder and the pain I have been suffering with lately has been so bad it sometimes leaves me bed ridden and really weak.

In addition I have been told that some abnormal cells and bleeding they have found are indicative of stage one cervical cancer so am being put forward for urgent tests to confirm within the next few weeks.

Feel rotten, but at least I know what I'm dealing with. Does anyone else suffer with it like this?

Yes I do......................I now take the contraceptive pill non stop and the pain is gone.

What is your pain like?

When mine was there I can only describe it as like someone had cut me on the inside with a stanley knife.

I always say that. It's a stabbing pain that internally has become so bad I'm wiped out for days.

Little cuts, but then one really bad area.

I suffer with Endometriosis, I wouldn't believe all that has been told to you. I have it so bad I was told after I was diagnosed I would never concieve naturally.

My first baby was born in 1999 she was delivered via C- Section, I was informed my insides were in a pretty bad way and they we're amazed I'd managed to ever find myself pregnant (they had to seperate my bladder from my womb during that operation as best as they could, as the adhesions from having Endometriosis had fused them both together).

I was told I'd been lucky to have her and probably wouldn't ever concieve again, they were wrong. I went onto concieve twice more.

I used to suffer with it really badly on bad days, I used to spend all day in bed tucked up with a hot water bottle overdosing myself with painkillers. Since having my children though it has eased off considerably, which I was told could happen.

Yeap Em, you are not alone, it is very painful to have, I was diagnosed with it years ago, I had to have a laparoscope and D&C, which I thought was worse than the pain (not really it just took a while to recover), the doctor said I had three years before I might have problems conceiving, that was about 6yrs ago. Before the op they did an ultrasound and one of my ovaries was 10 times the size it should have been
There was three medications I could have gone on to help reduce the chances of it coming back or at least slowing it down. I ended up choosing none.
As far as I know it hasn't come back but get pains from time to time, but until it is like the pain I had before I wouldn't go back for surgery.
For any doctor the outcome of being able to tell you your chances of getting pregnant is only a guess, some never can and some have no problems at all, and everywhere in between.
So don't think it will never happen, it is way to early to think like that.
Not so good about maybe having cervical cancer, all fingers crossed for you Em and the results xxxx

I'm on cerazette now, which is the pill they use to ease it. Haven't had a proper period for years, but still get all the monthly symptoms. The fear is, if I'm this bad on it, what's it going to be like when I come off to try (which will be as soon as all the tests are done and we know where we are with things).

I have heard of this happening so many times, so thanks, it does give me hope. I think I just worry because of my age as well as endo.

I've also been told that things are possibly 'stuck' together. Sometimes if my bladder is full or I'm abit gassy (sorry ) I'm in agony around my womb/cervix area!

Thanks Em, although am ignoring the C thing as best as I can. I doubt I have it(just instincts), although it is scary because all symptoms are spot on and the abnormalities they have found.

They try and avoid laparoscopes these days. They diagnose on history and symptoms and will only operate if a woman is trying unsuccessfully to conceive. They have told me after all the tests are out these way and we know exactly what we're looking at I'm to come off the pill and we'll work with pain management and see what happens. Sounds like a long, painful process but I hope the end result will be worth it ;o)

Fingers crossed I can get out of bed today! It's the weekend!

Sorry for all of you too, it is quite horrid and as mine has been getting much worse lately I don't think I ever realised just how bad it is. xx

Oh Emily....... *hugs*

No experience of Endo but I did have first stage cervical cancer.

It was zapped with laser and never returned.

However, just a few years later I did have a hysterectomy as I had nasty fibroids, but the specialist did say there was no sign of any abnormalities and my ovaries were left alone.

Thinking of you honey x0x0x

The operation is better than pain management and the endo may not grow back, mine was attached to bladder, bowel uterus etc, I hope they can sort it whatever happens, pain killers helped but then I couldn't function properly on a day to day basis.
As for C, endo can infect the lining of your uterus, hopefully that will explain any abnormalities in your cervix
xxxx
