wish him luck, tomorrow 9am op

hi everyone tigger went for his 6mth check yesterday and the vet gave him 10/10 BUT.... she has made his apiontment for a few ( shall we say) loose ends that need tieing up (if your male i would not read on) my poor not so little baby is going for the chop tomorrow aswell as having his tummy-button fixed and micro chipped at the same time i will let you know how he goes on, ice packs at the ready
any words of wisdom to make him feel better

He should be fine. It is very sensible getting the hernia & the microchip done at the same time.

He will be a bit groggy from the anaesthetic, and his throat may bit a little bit sore from the tube, but your biggest problem will be stopping him bouncing around once the effects of the anaesthetic have worn off. Vets always say "keep them quiet for a few days" - much easier said than done! Make sure you get an Elizabethan collar when you bring him home just in case the shaved area or any stitches start to irritate him.

Try not to worry - again, easier said than done

ETA: be careful with the ice packs - they can burn shaved skin. If you need to apply anything then I would advise a towel wrung out in cool water.

Jake had "the chop" last month he was absolutley fine. Even quite liveley when he came home, he lifted his leg and peed for britain so he couldn't have hurt that much

I was worrid sick thouh so I know how you feel, but he'll be fine.

Hey tigger,

Maybe you could get aloe gel to put on the shaved bits, this will help with any irritation due to shaving........
