Girl, 4, mauled by Pit Bull type dog (Liverpool)

Girl, 4, mauled by Pit Bull type dog

A 4-year-old girl from Croxteth was mauled by a Pit Bull type breed of dog.
The little girl suffered serious facial injuries and is now being treated in hospital.
She was bitten in a neighbour's house on Unicorn Road yesterday afternoon and police were called to the scene by paramedics.
The dog was taken away by officers and its owner has agreed for it to be destroyed.
In a statement a police spokesperson said: "Specialist officers from the Force's dog section have established that the animal was a Pit Bull type breed."
The dog's owner, Peter Shearon, 28, of Unicorn Road was charged with possession of a prohibited dog.
He has been bailed to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court later this month.

Plonkers.
It really is time adults were prosecuted for stupidity. I know - we`ll take a small child and let it play with strange dog. What could possibly go wrong.

Poor little girl.

There was a story in our paper on Saturday about a girl being mauled by a Bullmastiff whilst she was playing a "nintendo dogs" game that was emitting barking noises. The dog grabbed her lip and pulled her to the ground and continued to bite her. The paramedic grabbed the lip that had been bitten off and they sewed it back on but are not sure if it will be ok. What amazed me was what the dog's owner said-that you should be warned about playing these games in front of dogs!
