Breeder or puppy farmer?

When does a breeder become a puppy farmer?

When they breed with no intention of keeping - ie purely breeding to sell

I think lots of PFs keep - they have to have new brood bitches and stud dogs somehow.

when they breed a large amount of litters, from various breeds a year for financial gain and nothing else! With no health tests done, dogs kept in awful conditions and seen as money making things, not pets.

When they will sell to anyone that brings them money, with no care in the world to the sort of owners the new pups owner will be.

and then chuck there dogs at rescues when they have finished with them.

Sometimes it can be all together, but sometimes its just a few things! Like i have recently seen what i would class as a puppy farmer, breeding various breeds, various litters a year! but they health test all breeding dogs.

I think sometimes you have to take each breeder individually.
But if i was giving advise to someone looking at going to a breeder the things i listed would be things i told them to look out for, as they could possibly be a Puppy Farmer.

But then we also all have different ideas on what a puppy farmer is.

When the money is more important than the life of the dogs
When the bitch is going to be moved on to another home )(or worse) when she can no longer be of use

To me a puppyfarmer is someone who has many litters at once, very often has several breeds of dogs, and is in it to make as much money as possible with no concern for the breeding bitches health or welfare.

When no health tests are done on the dog and bitch and the bitch is just used as a breeding machine to make money
