Dog been eating cats poo!!!!!

Hi all,

I have just caught my dog eating my cats poo from her litter tray!!
My dog is 5 years old and we have had the cat for 2 of her five years and Katie (our dog) has never done anything like this before.
We actually thought my cat was constipated as we hadnt seen any mess in her litter tray for over 2 weeks (she is a house cat so this was very strange for her).....and all that time,it would seem that Katie was eating it! Disguisting girl!

Anyone else had this problem with their dog? Whats it all about? xxx

nearly every dog does it

get a litter tray that has a roof and prop it up so the dog cant get its nose thru

we use a hooded litter tray and NEVER give the dogs the chance to get near it! yes its disgusting that they eat the poo, but the cat litter can be dangerous to the dogs as it cant be digested nor passed through the system easily so can cause blockages, leaving them constipated.

Yes work out some way to make it inaccessible to the dog. It may have just discovered it.

Thank you all for your replies.

We have moved the litter tray up a height-Katie shouldnt be able to reach it now.........Just hope the cats happy with this new arrangement;if not, we could be finding little parcels of delight in many hidden places!!

YUK!! but how true.... this post reminded me of my ld rescue BC he would do anything to get a cat "truffle" in his day...I got up one morning to a lovely sculpture in the middle of the living room of which he was so proud of.... the whole contents of the litter tray in a neat wee pile ..
