What is normal?

Hi, just wonder if any one could advise as to how much licking of certain parts of her anatomy my female dog should do. She does like a lick after being out and occasionally almost looks like she is chewing. She doesn't look sore though so it this normal? Not had her that long as you can probably tell from this question

How long does she spend licking that area and how regularly?

Hi, thanks for the reply, she spends less than a minute couple of times a day.

i would say that is normal grooming. if it went on for a minute every 10 minutes i would worry about pyo or other infections. has she been spayed

then i wouldnt be too worried. it she gets really persistent then she may have a touch of vaginitis. but she sounds normal to me

From what you say, I agree with Loweherzleos - it sounds like normal grooming.

one of my bitches sometimes gets a UTI and then she starts cleaning herself consistantly - much, much more frequently than a couple of times a day.

But you're always better to ask about these things when you are not sure
