I have a puppy booked!!!(update @ post26)

Hi all,
After several years on here as a non-dog owning person...come January 2nd I will have a puppy to call my own! I've got a standard schnauzer booked from a very good breeder. The slight difference to most people is that I won't be able to take the puppy home at 8 weeks as we'll both be working full time, instead the breeder is kindly looking after the puppy until it's 6 months old. My husband and I have the summer off as we work in education. I'll then only be going back part time in September...it's all worked out so perfectly for us!!!
I just wanted to share my excitement with you all, I'll be showing off pictures of my little cherub as it grows, we're going to be visiting as often as possible so the puppy knows us when we come to pick them up.
So SO excited!!!! It's been a loooong wait for me to be in a position to finally have a dog, I'm sure if anyone understands the excitement, you guys do!
Melanie

thanks everyone!!! yes, we're very excited, and very lucky to have found a breeder so accomodating. she's lovely and her dogs are all fabulous! there will be lots of pictures - name will be revealed when we pick the pup in feb
we were indeed looking into the airedale and border, my husband in the end preferred the schnauzer, we looked the mini also, but decided a standard would fit into our lifestyle better.
thanks everyone for your congrats, we're so happy!

Will you be able to visit the puppy lots though?? I would have thought not getting it until 6 months you will be missing out on all the fun puppy stuff?? Although on the up side you won't have the hassle of toilet training!

yes, we'll be visiting as often as we can, spending time bonding with the puppy. yes, we'll miss out on some fun stuff, but we thought it was better that we wait until we're not working full time. its socialisation is already all planned out by the breeder - she's going above and beyond.
