Advise on ceiling spots re changing bulbs.

I have been trying to change a bulb (No jokes please?) in my new ceiling spots. I have 17 of these in the new extension. It seems the only way to remove the bulb is to lower the whole fitting so that the bulb can be pressed and then turned and released. Is this correct? (I have the electrician coming tomorrow morning and am not a happy bunny) Surely this will only result in the hole in the plasterboard getting slowly larger until the fitting no longer fits?

I would expect to be able to undo the clip then push and turn to release the bulb.

What are your spots like and can anyone give me any advice?

there should be a small spring, its circular and fits round the edge of the light fitting, if you take that off you should be able to change the bulb, no problem,

sorry Im not explaining it well.

Shona I have taken that bit off but then do you just push and twist to get the bulb out?

most drop out when you take the clip out, you could try pushing and twisting.

what do the fitments look like on your new bulbs? thin pins or do they have round bits on the end?

if its thin pins, I would say you just pull, it its the round ends on the pins, twist and pull

They have round bits on GU10 bulbs. The problem com es when you and try and twist. There seems to be nothing to hold the internal part of the fitting still and so you need to take the fitting out the ceiling to do so. Am I right in thinking this sounds dodgy?

Someone mentioned a sucker tool that you use to hold the bulb?

There is usually some movement depends on how they're fitted some have a spring to hold the unit in place and some have a bracket. I struggle to change them sometimes as my fingers are quite large and they can be fiddley. Never found the sucker to be of any use.
