Growth inside ear

Hi all
Sorry I haven't been on here for ages....
Fred's going in for an op tomorrow to have a growth removed from down inside his ear , they don't know what it is but it came up suddenly and has grown the past 2 weeks, he's had histiocytomas before which have gone on there own but this looks very different to what they looked like. He's also having a big epuli removed from his gum while he's under as it keeps bleeding.
Has anyone elses dog had an op inside their ear before? I know it's going to be very sore and we have asked for the lump to be sent off so we know what it is. I'm just wondering about recovery time for him?
We have socks for his paws so he can't scratch and an inflatable kong collar which will hopefully help, he won't wear the plastic ones. Last time he almost did himself more damage charging round the garden crashing into everything until it came of.....
Thank you
Tracy x

Thank you Eileen xx Not looking forward to it I will be a nervous wreck tomorrow but it needs to come off. The vet couldn't even take a biopsy or draw some fluid to see what it is due to where it is it would have caused his ear to swell so best to get it removed.

Thanks Carole xx We can't even wait and see as if it grew a lot due to where it is if it was cancerous they would have to remove his whole ear.

Thanks again Eileen xx
