What is this called ....

I have a new dual fuel range cooker in my new kitchen and I want one of these plates to put on top of the gas rings - to cook things like burgers, eggs, bacon.
I think they are usually made out of cast iron and they go across a couple of the rings and are totally flat.

But I do not know what they are called to even begin to do a google search on them.

Does anyone have one or could anyone tell me what exactly they are called please?

I think mine was called a griddle plate...it didn't come as standard with the cooker but I was able to buy it direct from the same company. I just rang them up and told them what I was looking for, paid by credit card, and they posted it out.

Yes it's a griddle plate, and you usually find such things in those little books of unusual items you get through the door, or maybe Betterware, or Robert Dyas, or Scotts of Stowe! That should be enough to be getting on with in your search! Just a small tip, when you use it, cover the back two plates with tin foil, it saves all those splashes!

Thank you all !!! Just the words I was looking for.

I have found this one on e-bay - think that is a brilliant price and they have excellent feedback. What do you think?

Do you have a Lakeland near you? You may get one there, and you won't have to pay £7 postage! Worth a try if you have one. Probably any decent department store with a kitchen department would have a couple as well.
Good luck!

£12.99 from here.

I love this online shop, they are much better value than Lakeland and I've always been very happy with their service.
