Hi
My 11yr old basset had an emergency op last Oct, as an xray showed a 'mass' around his spleen. As he suffers from spondylosis & acute & chronic arthritis, we have to keep his weight to the very bottom end of healthy for a male basset. He weight 22.5kgs when he had his op & they found a massive tumour on his spleen. Subsequently both the spleen & tumour were removed, weighing just over 2kgs. He was kept in overnight, as he had lost a lot of blood & they were worried about him going into shock. Collected hjim the following day & he had stitsches removed 10days later. The vet was careful to point out that there were signs of other small 'seeds' in the odendum (sack-like substance that holds all the insides in one place), so no doubt in time, something similar will recut & due to his subsequent age, operationg will not be a viable option. So far he seems very happy & plays well with out very lively 5yr old basset bitch. Fingers crossed that we have a lot more time with him.
Thinking of you & hoping your little boy recovers well.
