Toy: The Kong

This is the one toy that has lasted Rocky his entire life! All other toys were destroyed (most of them usually within hours!).

It's made of natural rubber so is very hard-wearing, and is great because you can put treats inside and your dog will spend minutes or hours trying to get them out - so excellent for mental stimulation. Some people even smear pastes along the inside, or even freeze things in it for the summer.

It's definitely been one of our best purchases - highly recommended

I totally agree! I have one dog who should have been named Jaws! Large black Kong is the ONLY thing I have ever given him that has lasted.

Diesels lasts a couple of years at most before the rubber at the narrow end goes all crumbly and the kong needs to be replaced. It's still great value compared to anything else that lasts nano seconds.

Yes we have had ours for years too! We put part of their evening meal inside and give it to them when we start to eat ours so they don't mooch round us for food.

They are a bit hard to clean though-any ideas? ours have got a bit dirty round the inside lip.

I use a spoon handle to scrape out anything left and soak in warm water. I also pop them in the dishwasher once a week.

a tooth brush is an excellent idea I will do this next time, took me ages at the weekend scraping out peanut butter and then scrubbing with a sponge and soapy water
