Freedom Pass - new legislation

Typical.......

Thanks to new legislation (commonly known as "Let's shaft the public") I, and millions of others, will not be eligible for a Freedom Pass for free travel on public transport until much later than the 60 years old that it currently is.

This new legislation comes in on 6/4/10, so I now have to wait until 2017 (I shall be 64 then) before I can travel for free.

What exactly did I work 50 years for?

Personally, I hate public transport, and avoid it like the plague, but there are times when I really have no choice.

Geez, I HATE this bloody country

If you were born between 1950 and 1955, you too will be shafted. To see the date you will be allowed a Freedom (HA!) Pass, go to www.freedompass.org

Oh Vicki I feel so sorry for you, caught out by some mindless beaurocrat looking to save the government money when they are the ones that have overborrowed. The interest payments alone on the govenment borrowing will reach 60 billion pounds a year soon, can you imagine that, and somebody thinks they can save a few quid by changing the rules on bus passes, rubbish!!

You're right, Hali. Have you heard the latest from the budget? Everyone with a land line has to pay an extra 50p per month "broadband" tax - this is to pay Virgin Media et al to put cables in out of the way places.

What about the people who neither have, nor fr*gging want broadband?

Outrageous.......

That is going to hit the oldies worse again isn't it - they're the ones most likely to have landlines and least likely to want broadband.

Mind you, I know one person who should benefit from this...it might mean that Moobli finally gets broadband. (and I don't feel so bad thinking that my payment would be going towards her broadband)
