First pit bull and now GSD turn up at the gate

This afternoon Bill was outside digging the mud out of the drainage ditches. His eye was caught by Ailsa sidling up to him and he told her to go back indoors - he looked again and it wasn't Ailsa but a very pretty GSD bitch, very timid and frightened but friendly. We don't know where she's come from and can't get her checked for a chip until Monday. At the moment she's in a cage in the back of our Luton van. She woolfed down a little plate of dinner earlier and now seems quite settled. She wouldn't walk anywhere and we had to carry her into the cage, now she won't come out of the cage bless her... when I approached her she cowered right down as if she thought I was going to hit her, but a lot of spanish dogs do this I've noticed. Not sure how I'm going to introduce her to our dogs yet, Jake has only had 1 lesson so far re. his anti social issues so not sure what to do. Very surprisingly my hubby wasn't horrified at the thought of another GSD!!!! I nearly fainted, but tbh think I've got my hands full with the 2 I've got. Hopefully someone will come and claim her....

Oh yes and a lot of Cypriot dogs do this too. And all the Cyprus Poodles are expert in what we call 'jumping and running backwards'. No doubt at all because of their past experiences with human beings.

Bless you for trying to help this dog.

It must be going round the doggy grapevine to come to your house if needing some food and shelter by the sounds of things and being reunited if lost with their owner or rehomed if thrown out or lost.

Good luck I hope it all works out well. Keep us updated.

Aw bless her, she must have known which house was dog friendly and where to come.

I bet she is lovely - can you get any piccies?

I do hope she has a caring owner out searching for her. Is she ok in your van until you can get her to the vet to check whether she is chipped?

Keep us updated.

I wish that Hungarian dogs were more more like Spanish or Cypriot dogs. Over here they just attack!

Gill, it sounds to me like the local population have heard about what you did for that other dog and now they are secretly dumping their unwanted dogs near to you in the hope you'll do something and their conscience is clear, grrrrrrr, sorry I am a cynic when it comes to humans and dogs, not ALL humans and definately not those on Dogsey but Spain is going through a bad economic period, unemployment is staggeringly high, and I just don't trust people these days.

Happy to be proved wrong and would be delighted if you find she is chipped and the owner wants her back.

Yes, I am hoping she is chipped too. We had a bit of an incident this evening when Jake flung himself at the cage in the back of the van. It was our fault, we did it all wrong, but as Bill grabbed him by the collar he turned round in his frenzy and bit Bill. We've spent an hour or so down the Medical Centre having a tetanus and have brought home lots of antibiotics! I think Bill would be happy to keep her which completely floored me, but as we are only on lesson 1 for Jake's socialisation programme I don't think I will be agreeing with him any time soon. Maybe I should swop her for Jake!! Sorry Kirsty, can't do photos! but she is a sweetheart, fingers crossed for that chip tomorrow eh?

Oh I hope she has owners who are looking for her, poor thing. She is really lucky that she found your house, as was said before, I think the doggy grapevine is working well...they know you will get her sorted. Good luck.
