Thanks everyone... but I think I spoke too soon - the cancer has started to double in size again

He's well in himself but it's just heart-breaking to see. The cancer is crafty - for days you think to yourself is it getting bigger? Then like overnight it practically jumps up (the cancer cells double in size).

It seems that going RAW stopped or slowed down the growth (or him losing weight gave that impression) - and I guess that gave me a false sense of security that it was not going to get any bigger, hence started giving him cooked meals. Started with meat and sweet potato, but was worried about the sugar in the yams (as cancer loves sugar) so started giving him white rice - as it's meant to be fairly clean (although still a grain) I just thought it might be ok.

So I'm changing his diet again - to semi-raw, I am going to boil his chicken for 5 minutes just to kill off as much bacteria as possible, but not cook it so he can still have it whole (with bones). However if he starts getting lethargic again, I will have to think whether quality of life over quantity is going to be better for him - and just pile him with all the treats he could ever want (within reason!).

Will keep you guys posted, and sorry it's not great news this time - he's getting tonnes of extra hugs, so doesn't know any different.

As Jane has said it's so sad when you know whats comming and there's nothing you can do. But Azz, you are doing something, you are trying to be pro-active and use different diets and keep him happy, he is not aware of what is taking hold of him, he still lives for your companionship and thats the important thing. I do think of you and Rocky from time to time, often when I'm out with our two.

So sorry Azz. Sometimes quality is better than quantity. When my old girl was diagnosed with non treatable cancer, she had been on a diet as she was slightly over weight. I decided at that point to stop and let her enjoy what time she had left. I hope Rocky has some quality time left and I know you'll do the best for him.

So sorry to hear this new update Azz, and I know you're doing everything possible to improve what quality of life he has left and would never give up on him until he tells you to. I hope he's still sharing that bed with you and enjoying his food, and I hope you can keep him going for quite a while longer yet, so all the very best from us.xxx
