it depends what type of work they do.
my lad is a pets as therapy dog he goes to a local hospital and visits ill children.
some go to schools as education aspects, others old peoples home or the physically or mental disabled.
basically the dog just acts normal self but the ppl they visit get to stroke and handle them and it is a known fact stroking a dog or intereacting with animals has a positive efeect on ppls general health.
it often breaks up the day gives them some thing to look forward to etc your next visit and in tobs case takes the mind of the next round of treatments.
plus the dogs love the attention they get so no one losses really.
as the owner and handler you just put the 2 together by taking your dog to a place for the visit.
you do get a great feeling though and the reward is seeing the pleasure it brings to others.
