He is currently in the run in the garden - eating!!!

We have come to the conclusion that he was possibly simply foraging on his own, learning his way in the owrld and shouldn't have been taken, but he was, he is here now so we will look after him.

What a likeness!!

I have had a reply to an email I sent to Prickly Ball Farm who gave me masses of help last time, they reckon he was on a foraging trip and got lost or left behind. At about 200/250g he should be OK on his own. As he is only 100g he will be in our care for a little while - shame!! When he is bigger we will release him into the garden, not very big but we have plenty of hidey places, and food for him.

I have just weighed the little guy - when he arrived Friday evening he was 100g, now is around 130g!!!

I say 'around' as inbetween each 100g are only 2 lines, he is a smidge over the first, the middle line must be 50g, so each other 25g. I know what I mean!

I am hopeful, this time. I am still very sad about Teasel but this baby is very healthy looking and loves to eat!! We talked last night about making him a little house to put in the run that Kev made for Teasel, and moving him outside soon - he will be limited to the run for a little while so we can ensure he eats. Then, all being well he will have the whole garden and find food by himself, we will of course supplement his diet to ensure he gets food, but our aim is that he lives on his own in our little garden.

I may even name him soon. Haven't up to now on purpose, but I just might.

That's such good news He is a sweetie, I'm so glad he's eating like a proper hoglet. What do you feed him anyway?

At the moment he is on cat food - any flavour but fishy ones. You can feed dog food too.

There is a proper hedgehog food available, called Spike's Dinner!! At the moment I am feeding what is left from Teasel and once I have a little spare cash will get him Spikes Dinner.

I have a feeling once he is outside, we will be catching beetles for him!

See now you believe me

Bongo doesn't look like a hoglet now though, he's too big

Glad Real hoglet is eating now!
