Sudden lameness?

Hi,

I.am looking for a bit of advice. My 4 year old lab is not putting any weight on one of her back legs. I don't know how or if she has injured it but she did jump off a wall yesterday that seemed a bit high, although she continued to walk and run for another 30 munutes after that with no problem.

I have checked her toes all around and inbetween, her claws and all up and down the lenghth of the leg and hip. There is no obvious sign of injury and she is letting me touch it all without whimpering or any other sign of distress. I have moved all her joints and they seem to be all moving fine, again with no negative reaction coming from her.
I know I can take her to the vet but it is such a trauma for her! I don't want to put her through that unless absolutely necessary.
So my question is, would it be wrong to leave her until tomorrow, or even Monday before contacting a vet?

Edit....she IS putting some weight on it. Just had her out and she walked on four legs rather than three. She is not running but she is able to weight bear to walk a bit and do the loo.

I'd would probably leave it a few days if it were one of mine, these things frequently disappear as quickly as they appeared.

Can you feel any heat along the leg and round the hip? If it were me I would try using hot and cold compresses over the day in the area where there is heat.

Thanks,

I examined her as best I could again. I am fairly sure it is her paw/pads as she is reluctant to let me touch them. I have looked thoroughly with a torch and a magnifying glass but nothing obvious. It is difficult to know for sure because her feet are sensitive anyway.
I am sure I worried less about my kids when they were small!

Potentially Hip Dysplasia.
Get an X Ray and have her seem by a specialist.

Try also for a treatment called Cartrophen Vet. Its a great drug to manage arthritic pain and produce comfort. Generic name is Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium.
