Fostering with a difference...

Ok so I am around just not around much at the moment!

Still couldn't resist sharing my latest foster.

Meet Smartie, she is not very well and has swollen eyes. Fingers crossed she survives.

She's very sweet, semi-tame. I'm quite fond of her already.

Aw what a sweetie! I hope she recovers quickly.
What are the bets that you're going to end up adopting her?

What a lovely little thing, I hope she recovers. I have a cockatiel, he must be at least 25 now. Loves it when I can put his cage outside in the sun!

I used to have two, Magic and Mischief. Sadly Magic popped his clogs a few months ago and so Mischief is alone. They always seemed very close but strangely she doesn't appear to miss him at all, which is good for her but I think it's a bit sad tbh. I do love their happy little tunes though.

She's still going today She's been to the vet and had a vitamin A injection and has started on Baytril (antibiotic). I am at my Dad's house tonight so she is having a sleepover with us here. She is eating and drinking fine. I am really hoping she's turning a corner.

I love the names of your guys tiels. I only have budgies and finches in my house. The budgies are called Blue and Banjo and will be going out in to my aviary once it arrives.

Smartie lost her fight today. She perked up over the weekend but took a turn for the worst last night. This morning it was clear she was still struggling so I called the vets to book an appointment for her to be put to sleep. She wouldn't settle in her cage, only in the crook of my arm.

Once of the staff drove me there with her nestled against me and we sat in the waiting room like that until called in. I stayed with her while she passed and she is now back home and buried in the garden.

She was only with me a few days but I admit to growing attached. Sleep well girlie.
