Originally they were a tri breed of GSD, husky and malamute, however they now breed true and are a breed in their own right, although (thank goodness) not recognised by the Kennel Club

Hi.have you got a full size one.Was it anaccident at the beginning, because all 3 breeds are working.Have always had a fascination about breeds so excuse me asking questions, one day I found this incredible museum in Tring, and this guy he had a lt of money,he was on a mission to get every animal in the world then, not to hunt them, but he has 80 breeds of dogs circa 1800,just looking at them gives me goose bumps, how differant they are from the same breed today, other animals evolve,to cope with the changing world. crystalgirl

No, it was no accident. They were started by a lady called Eddy Harrison who wanted a dog that looked like a wolf but behaved like a dog, I got my first one from her, but they weren't called Utonagan then, she called them husky hybrids

Here is a link to a thread with piccies of 2 of my big girlies on
Girlies In The Snow (Utonagan)

The black and silver girl is full sister to Cariad (mum to Ash and Keshi) and the other one is her daughter Mabs, they are double coats which are a different coat type to Ash and Keshi (who are rough coats)
