Roisin ~ Super Little Lady Needs A Super Home - 1yo Black Greyhound
ROISIN
**UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 2012**
Roisin is a pretty greyhound girl who was born in August of last year. Sadly this girl found herself in the pound at just 4 months old because she was deemed no good for racing, but is now doing much better in a loving foster home. She is a petite black dog with intelligent eyes and is in great condition now.
~ Personality ~
Roisin is a delightful little character who truly loves the people who care for her. She is still a pup in many ways – curious, lively, bouncy, fun, playful, innocent and very, very sweet! She is a constant source of amusement for her foster parents, and they say it has been a joy to watch her come out of herself, learn to trust people, and start to explore the world around her. Roisin’s forever family will need to be willing to continue the work of her foster parents to help her to grow and mature into a happy, well-adjusted girlie.
~ In the Home ~
Roisin has been in her foster home for several months now, and is well adjusted to living in a home setting. She is housetrained, quiet through the night and doesn’t counter-surf.
Roisin does still have the lingering effects of what was once severe separation anxiety, so she is best crated when left for periods of time. Having another doggie friend or two around her is also a huge help, but potential adopters need to be aware that her anxiety might increase again upon moving into her new home simply because of the upheaval. Setting a routine in place immediately will be a great asset to her, as she very much needs to know what to expect at what time. Kerry Greyhounds UK have a behaviourist on hand to assist Roisin’s adopters with this to help reduce any anxiety she might feel. Just give this girlie a chance to settle and you are sure to be rewarded with a truly smashing forever friend.
~ Other Animals ~
Roisin is in general good with other dogs. She is sharing her foster home with 4 other dogs and they have been instrumental in her road to recovery. Having said that, Roisin would do better in a home with just one other dog so that she can get more on-on-one attention, and this is the only reason why her foster parents haven’t become her forever parents! Ideally that dog needs to be a confident and well-adjusted pooch, to help Roisin feel more secure in herself and not get overly anxious.
~ Out and About ~
Roisin enjoys her walks and looks forward to them. She also loves her 5 minutes of ‘mad zoomies’ around the garden with a canine friend before flopping back on the sofa for a snooze. She is a little bit quirky and can have the habit of randomly sitting while on walks to simply look around her, or grabbing her owners lead to walk them instead! This habit is not ideal, however, and her foster parents are currently working with her to leave the lead alone. Having some tasty treats at hand definitely help!
~ Where Can I Live? ~
Roisin is still a very young girl with a lifetime of potential to grow, mature and settle down. She is still learning to fully trust people and gain confidence after her bad start. Roisin would do best in a dog-experienced home that is aware of issues such as separation anxiety and how to deal with them. In the right kind of home, Roisin will lose her rough edges and fully blossom into a fantastic family friend, and how rewarding would it be to have a part in her progress and growth?
~ Where Am I? ~
Roisin is currently in a foster home in Sheffield, UK, and will need to be homed within driving distance of Sheffield so that her current foster parents can provide any needed post-adoption support.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Roisin is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~
Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.
If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.
If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs.
Thank you.
