I don't need one but I love going on walks where there are secure areas as Louie does like to chase birds and so he is on a long line most of the time, especially as the two nearest walks to me have either birds and/or horses, both of which Louie would find a bit much - although his recall is improving loads.

Benjie would need one as his behaviour with dogs is deteriorating, mainly because he is now living with my OH's family; who are so nervous that when I suggested they took him to the training class I take Louie to (muzzled of course) were terrified at the idea of the thought of him being near other dogs - which is what he needs, he's fine in our garden but the lack of socialising outside is horrendous. So in Benjie's case it would be brilliant as my OH's family are disabled in one way or another.

I'd pay for an enclosed field for when I take Louie out training - especially as there'd always be different smells around so it would be challenging - which is what we need.

But there are places for free but others who need an enclosed space where other free places were not suitable, it would be ideal.

I wouldn't say no more than up to a fiver per hour, depends what the enclosed area offered, if there was a water feature and things placed there that wouldn't naturally be placed there then I think you'd be allowed to charge a little extra... it depends I suppose..

I think you could definately charge more than £5 per hour. You'd be paying for complete and utter private access, which means that they couldn't rent it out to anyone else at that time.

Our dog trainers charge £8 per class and need at least 4 people to turn up, just to cover the cost of the hall. You couldn't rent anywhere for £5 an hour.

My local hydrotheraphy pool costs £20 for half an hour private access (admittedly pool upkeep and costs are expensive).

I think minimum £10 per hour would be a good deal.

Well upwards of a fiver then - it depends on the person, the upkeep, etc.

I'd definately pay more than £5 per hour. I would be temped to say you could get away with £10-20 depending on how big the area was. As a business idea, if you wanted to make more money, you could offer discounts for advance bookings (e.g. £15 an hour but blocks of 10 hours for £100), maybe have a smaller enclosed area to rent out for training (you'd probably need solid partitions to not annoy reactive dogs in the main area), only allowing x single bookings and having group bookings at a higher price in peak times (so two friends could hire it out at £20 split between them if their dogs got along)

Initally I would say no as I have found loads of places for free

but
if it had loads of stuff to play with the dogs on and 100% no chance of meeting another dog/horse then I might

also for helping friends with their dogs it would be great

Yes. I'd love somewhere like that to train. Ideally the 'fun' and more distracting area (trees, water etc.) would have a seperate 'boring' field too. That way we could do some training and move on to train in the distracting area later, or maybe use it as a reward for a good training session.

I'd definately want it to be 100% secure if I was paying for it - 6' fencing, preferably with overhangs because Casper can climb fencing if he wanted, and a system to ensure no one else would/could come in during my session.

When I had my own training field, I was often asked if I would hire it out to those wanting a secure exercise area.

Unfortunately, or fortunately as the case may be, I was always too busy using the field for training to consider it.

I dont really need it for normal walking, but if there was such a place with suitable swimming water or doggy toy type things that we could use a few times a year i would be tempted.
