greetings from a flower

Kiaora everyone,I feel a bit anxious about this posting threads business!. Thanks for your message Shadowboxer it's ressuring to get such a warm welcome. I have a german shepherd/labrador /ridgeback cross called Hunny. She is nearly 5 years old and was my daughters until she left home for another city this year. Hunny has been with us since a pup and after doing some research I realise that we have overstimulated her as a pup treating her like a person and as a result have had trouble training her.
At the moment I am not taking her for walks because I was getting too stressed and she is depressed!. I would like to be able to enjoy her again, she is pulling less on the lead and when she does I stop and she comes back to me , but it is a slow and long process. The thing that stresses me most though is her whining when we are out walking and have to stop at the lights or road for traffic. I get cross and try not to say anything cos I dont want to reinforce the behaviour , but dont know how to deter it either. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions .I want for her to be a happy wee dog as well and have read and employed several of Jan fennells techniques but feel I may have missed something!!!!!!!!!!!!!
