I forgot about the poo eating!!...that's down to Poppy although in her defence she has not done it for a while and has never, as far as I can see, caught it mid air!!!! and the tampon???? WTF it's a mystery lol xxxx

Honestly, those are just the beginning. The stories I could tell would put some off for life!! probably one of THE most embarrassing was when I got stuck in a massive pile of manure, going after my dog who was chowing down on top of the pile (think at 12ft mountain of it)...let's just say I had no idea you sunk into manure like quick-sand.

Its being woken up at 3 am by China pawing at the top of the duvet so you let her in as its cold...

Its trying to explain to her that the weather is the same at the front of the house as it is at the back...she wont go for a pee if its raining, but will insist on her walk until you open the front door and she runs off upto bed!

Its having two brown eyes fixated on you when your eating just waiting for the little bit at the end of your meal we always save her

ITs going to your friends for a brew and automatically saving a bit of biscuit even though China isnt there.

Its having to wrestle for a spot on the sofa.

Its having to look far in the distance and keep her on a long lead coz her previous owner never socialised her...

Its 4 years of training to be so proud when she plays nice with another dog

Its feeling sorry for other people when they see dogs as just a dog and dont see all the benefits.

Its the hugs on the sofa,

Its the snuffles when cuddling,

Its the waggly bum and excitment i get when i have only nipped to put the bins out!

Its all the unconditional love and understanding they give you. Its no matter if you have a dress and make up on or spots, greasy hair and tracky bottoms she still loves to cuddle me and be near me!

The positives outweigh the negatives by thousands!

The chewed XBox cable, the one pair of chewed trainers. The pretending to look the other way so he can't see you telling him to sit. The racing up and down the living room knocking juice glasses or coffee cups flying across the living room.

And this morning, as I was lying on the chair having a snooze, there was the clamber on top of me and using me as a comfy bed

However, there's the unconditional love, especially if he thinks you are upset, there was the time he spent night after night cuddling with Brian after his father passed away just a couple of weeks after we got Dougal. There is the massive big grin we get when we get up in the morning and the waggling bum, and the funny standing on his head thing he does when he gets 'people' food.

Would I change anything...not a chance in hell. Dougal is the best dog we have ever had and I bless the day he arrived with us.

It's being embarrassed to let anyone get in my car cos it smells of mud and dog spit and you also get out of it looking like a furry rug
It's witnessing Skye eating dog poo yesterday, then throwing it up when we got home.....oh the smell
The amount of money Willow has cost in vet bills

But it's also the snuggling up in bed with you, the sheer joy on their furry faces when they are going for a walk.
The running up to you with toys or your slippers in their mouths making woo woo noises when you come back from shopping or just nipping out to the car
And the trust i can see in my new boys eyes when he looks at me and knows he is home and never going to be beaten ever again.
Yes it's worth everything yucky that goes with loving dogs to have that unconditional love they give in bucketloads

Jann

When I first decided to get a dog, I thought it would be all fun, lovely long walks & curled up on my feet at the end of the day............ I didn't really think about the fact that my show house would be turned into a stinking mud splattered, full of hair pit with dog slobber all over the windows! My lovely garden would have yellow wee patches everywhere & holes dug up all over the place! & lets not even mention the shoes, mobile phones & other items which have been destroyed along the way. I've ditched the heels & am mostly found now wearing a tracksuit & wellies with a stoopid wooley hat, mis matched scarf ,any odd pair of gloves & somebody elses coat because I don't have sensible warm coats! & I'm considering having plastic surgery to have the hoover attachment bonded to my hand permantly! But I love it really
