Is it safe to eat a wild pheasant?

It was already dead! Tilly just found it on the farm - as they do & demolished it by ripping it's guts out. There wasn't much left by the time I managed to coax her away by doing my mad muppet routine & throwing snowballs. But I think she ate quiet a bit of it - oh it was gross, guts & all!! hub says it's natural! I hope it doesn't upset her tummy!!
I was quite surprised as she normally just rolls on dead things. I think this was quite fresh........ ooo yuk yuk yuk!!

Your OH is right, it is natural and shouldn't do her any harm at all.

Eating wild pheasant is fine. Just give it a wash first if the dog's had it.

Make sure it was fresh, because a Pheasant would of been picked up by a Fox the night it died. Was it floppy? Stiff or pliable but not floppy?

Chances are it would be safe, partly depending on how it died and how long it had been dead. If it was poisoned, she could be poisoned too.

A big meal of almost anything different can also lead to digestive upsets. That could pass quickly.

Mine have got 3 wild pheasant in the freezer ready for me to prepare, they are perfectly fine to eat. Trouble is, 2 out of the 3 dont like it! Mine were shot so I know it's safe for them to eat.
