I wonder that too

We dont have kennels if we did they would be constantly full.

Its a horrendous situation and many many people wont even consider a staffie or cross and many more will advise people looking at rescue not to consider one either.

As someone else has mentioned they are a victim of their own success but now sadly they are just the victim, and one of the worst dogs in kennels too as they get very very stressed, as they ust want to be with their people.

It actually breaks my heart.
Me too Danni, as I see it an abuse to them, they stress so much, all that panting and stress, no wonder they appear hyped

As yet we don't see many sibes, but I am sure we will in time.

Its worse than prison isn't it....infact the prisons are better. So concrete and cold looking.

OK here's something to madden you. Just been telling Patrick about BDH, and he's just told me this.

Guy who works with him, has a 11 week old SBT no papers bought for £150

Now he wants rid, ......... two reasons.

He hasn't got the time for it

His wife doesn't like dogs much

So he asked Pat if he knew anyone who wants it for £250

Well that baby didn't have much of a chance did it

I took my foster son to look round as he has never been, now they house a fair amount of dogs, but believe me they need to rename themselves as The SBT and SBTX rescue, because never have I seen so many of the same breed in one place.

Last time I went they had 1 floor of SBT's now they have all 3 floors with that breed.

Males, bitches, bitches that have recently had pups (you could see)& 1 young pup, then the SBTX's were obvious, again males & bitches mainly brindle, but a couple of tans and black and white's.

The only other breed there was 1 Rottie male
1 Dobie male
2 JRT both reserved
1 yorkie (Old)
1 lurcher

Everything else was SBT or SBT mix

I wish there was something that could be done to help this breed to stop them from this kind of abuse
if you did re-name them thus, i would say you are behind the times, as it has been the case that rescues have been 'staffie type' overload for 3 or 4 years now....i have been on the coal face of this.

Its a sad indictment of society and the way this breed is treated these days, its about time we had a breeding moratorium on staffies.
If every member of the public visited rescues and realised this has been a problem for a long time, then followed that up by noticing all the free and byb signs for staffies/'pit bulls'/'am staffs'/'irish staffs' etc, then the sudden realization and shock that good people experience (such as yourself stevie), might trigger a change for the better....hopefully.

It's people like this that are the root cause of the poor Staffie and Staffie X's ending up in dog pounds and rehoming centres. Obviously the guy thought really clearly about getting a puppy in the first place... I mean it's just a small commitment isn't it!!!
People like this just make me really mad, It's so unneccesary. Why can't people think clearly and research before they get a puppy. - Makes me think this guy just had a 'quick money' attitude and was planning to re-sell the puppy on for a larger sum of money.
- I bet he was feeding it a great diet and giving it the neccessary socialisation *scoffs"

Poor Staffie Its just such a shame, But the rescue centres do a fantastic job finding them new RESPONSIBLE homes. Staffies really are one of the best dogs in the world, so loving and caring.
If this over-breeding does continue, It's going to really cause big issues in the future.

I'm really behind with the times hun, last time I went there was when my eldest got Dillon his BC (almost 2 years now)....which he still has and then as I said only one floor was SBT's a SBT x's.....today was a real eye opener, quite sickening

Poor little babe, but sadly so common now with Staffs and crosses and yet there are still being loads and loads being bred and churned out by eejits with no idea just wanting to make a quick buck.
I do not like rules and regulations, but I think at least a temporary ban needs to be put on the breeding of them now except by proven responsible registered breeders and then the number of litters limited. Otherwise what hope is there for all the others who have gone past the cute puppy stage and are desperate for a loving home. Its spiralling out of control now, with too many of these beautiful dogs becoming victims.
