So, you're more computer literate than you admit! If you know enough to keep Windows up to date then I'd say you're fairly competent! OK, so assuming Windows is all secure and your machine isn't pwned... Try getting hold of some alcohol wipes and giving your rodent a thorough cleaning. If it's an optical mouse, give the little sensor window a good wipe. If it's a 'traditional' ball mouse, take the ball out and clean off the rollers and whatnot inside.

Failing that, make sure any device driver for the mouse is up to date & also your display/video driver maybe?

***Disclaimer***
Updating drivers may make things worse! I applied an update to a printer related driver recently and my printer stopped working. Then I tried to fix it... Now I'll have to do a re-install I think.

Thanks Rich, gave rodent a good clean, It's an optical one all nice and sparkly now.

both either don't really know, did a big disk degfrag overnight, and norton scan deleted loads of crap so..... and all seems fine...atm
