She was a frightened pitiful girl, tormented by fireworks being set off by her to see how high she would jump, frequently beaten and tormented, and called an untrainable imbecile by her previous owners when handed over.
Well the `untrainable imbecile` blossomed into a working girl for deaf dogs as well as being my wonderful companion, she has been my trusted and adored `right hand dog` for 12 years. The first time she looked at me with trust in her eyes will always be one of the most special, magical and treasured moments of my life

Rescued trying to dodge cars in the street in Ireland after she was seen being thrown from a car when she was approximately 10 / 12 weeks old. She is deaf [ diagnosed as inflicted injury ], and has a cloudy eye due to something having been pushed in to it, not believed by vet to have been accidental...
Initially she was shy but now loves meeting new people and other dogs, loves flying over agility jumps though the A Frame is her favourite thing to do, a bundle of rocket fuelled fun and energy who will do anything for a game or a cuddle, she is a little girl with a huge personality.

Dumped in rescue because `deaf dogs are useless`. He was in rescue for ten months until I was lucky enough to adopt him. By then he was half the weight he should have been because of stress and insecurity, due to so many people taking him home because of looks then returning him between 2 hours to two weeks for being `too needy to cope with`.
He competed in agility until retiring at 14 years old, and during his `useless` life time [ not !! ], so far he has taught more to new agility handlers than any human I know, he is a true gent, a clown, and a cuddle monster, he lights up the lives of all who meet him.

Initially rescued by the vet he had been taken to for destruction for finally having enough of the abuse he had known all his life since puppy hood, kept in a garage, beaten with brooms, tormented beyond endurance, legs welded together with matted fur, ears forced into upright points the same way. Luckily the vet saw the dog that he really is through the fear and pain, got him a rescue place from where he went to a wonderful foster family, then to me where he is loved and cherished. He loves to learn, is playful and so affectionate, his inner strength refused to let him give up during his hellish existence while he waited for better times.

Deaf, partially sighted and a tripod, until rescued all he knew of humans were that they were brutal and terrifying. From the start as a tiny puppy he was beaten and kicked repeatedly for not doing as he was told - his original owner was oblivious to the deafness and partial sight.
He developed fear aggression, understandably. He came to me from a brilliant rescue who took him in, once he got to know and trust me, he turned from being a violent and very frightened dog into my daft soppy teddy bear.

Rescued from a gang of yobs in Ireland, she was being beaten with sticks in the street while people looked away and walked past. Her angels from an Irish rescue dived in and got her away from them at great risk to themselves. Deaf, and weighing 9 kilos when saved aged one year, she was a walking skeleton, the pain and terror she went through are unimaginable.
After adoption the vet believed she would never reach adult build having been starved for so long as a juvenile. But to much amazement after the age of two having looked like a gangly puppy, she sprouted and is now a healthy strong well built adult.
Her nature with humans and all animals is second to none, each day I am thankful that her real life angels were in the right place at the right time to save her life.

He was bought by a family that thought Border Collies came 'pre-trained', they thought he would walk to heel off-lead and when he ran off up the road they chased after him and he 'undid' all the housework. He ended up at the local dogpound at 6 months old, they would have PTS after a week, when I saw him there, messing himself as he was dragged through reception, I couldn't leave him there. When I got him home I found the smallest collar that if left would have cut into his skin. He did have hang-ups, but has been the most loyal dog. He is now 13.5 years old.

Found at the side of the road after being hit by two vehicles. The owner was traced who prompty put her in a shed, due to no money to pay for the injuries. She was brought to our vets after the RSPCA were involved, he signed her over, thats when she became my dog. She has undergone several operations to her pelvis, both broken back legs and 1 front leg. She has fought with great determination and although it took 4 months before she could walk again she did it. She has overcome her fear of men and overcome her fear of traffic and now nine years on lives life to the full.

She was 1 year old and had been in Vigil`s Kennels for nearly a week when I visited. I took her home after reading the owners`s reasons for handing her over...`she`s fighting our other dogs. She`s fine apart from that`. Lies! All Lies! She was totally untrained, unsocialised and arrogant, with no respect or bite inhibition, and a particular hatred for old ladies. I suspect she`d never been out, or been on a lead, and had probably been wound up to attack strangers. Two years later she is the love of my life, has a big fan club and we are still learning and progressing. And life is never dull!

He was found in Greece, crippled and unable to walk from severe arthritis. Luckily he was takem to a shelter supported by Greek Animal Rescue, but unfortunately started fighting the other dogs in the compound so was kept in a small enclosure on his own. A holiday-maker, a lady of 75, felt sorry for him and paid for his quarantine / transport to the UK. On the way he was given Metacam and was transformed into a boisterous hunting dog again- far too much for an old lady, so was fostered by a friend whose plaintive letters to me (I was working in France) became increasingly desperate. As soon as I returned home she `gave` him to me. He`s a Good Boy now - the fighting, pulling, stealing were all pretty easy to adress, and he is now the constant, adoring, adored companion for my disabled son.
