Wanted: Cheap run around car - what you got?

Ok chaps, I'm after a second car and open to suggestions. I'm on a tight budget (approx £500 to spend).

I dont really want to spend money on taxing or MOT'ing the car so please, no bangers. Important that the car is reliable and mechanically fine.

Looks aren't partiularly important.

So, what you got?

Not really any suggestions, Chris, but wanted to mention that you'll have to tax and insure it, whatever........

Good luck in your hunt

Think you will be very lucky to find a mechanically sound, taxed and MOT'd car for £500.

I was my volvo needed taxing 2 years ago and only had a couple of months mot but it has been so reliable for me unfortunately it is redundant at the moment as I have upgraded to a bigger car for Ollie. Rare to be as lucky as I was it still has life in it but is difficult to sell due to the high tax and petrol prices.

My micra has never let me down, it is an s reg and every year it has sailed through its mot with just a few wear and tear things needed sorting, its great on fuel, is bigger than you would think and is cheaper tax than some cars. I wouls say a micra if image isn't an issue for you

To all the doubters, my existing car has already met this criteria (happens to be a volvo too!) so if done once, can be done again!

not just you catrin, i was thinking the same,
we have a Y reg punto to sell at moment - mechanically sound, really low miles and we would like £900- £1000 for it as its worth that easily, people only seem to offer £600 and want it taxed and mot'd for that. !

I firmly think you dont get something for nothing, and you get what you pay for.

good luck chris, hope you are "lucky" again !
