I adopted my Border Collie x English Springer Spaniel lad when he was 10 months old. His previous owner was one of those who had gotten him as a cute pup and couldn't be bothered to do anything with him. When it was realised by them that no dog comes ready trained, he often had a beating for being a 'naughty boy'. When he came to me he barely knew how to 'sit' on command, was not housetrained, was very handshy and absolutely no recall or any other training at all. So starting from scratch with him he came on so quickly and beautifully it was obvious all he needed was a bit of love and attention.

she was rescued at 8 months. she had been living with an american family of two adults and four young children. she wasn't walked she was shut in a cage under the dining room table all day every day just allowed out to eat and pee. she found me after she had squeezed through the cat flap one day. after i had walked her for a month each day with my dogs the family asked me to take her as they just didn't have the time to spend on her "any more" so she has been with me every since.
She didn't have a hard start to life, just a very boring one.

This rescue dog has been through a lot in her first year, she's now almost one and a half.

Found wandering the streets with a leg that was broken about a month, she then went through some operations to try and repair it. Unfortunately it then had to be amputated.

But through it all, no matter what pain she was enduring, she always took on the challenge with a bright attitude. She certainly taught me how to live my life.

She’s a pleasure to live with and such a zest for life!!

He came to live with me in early September 1999 he was 9months old, he was got from the local dogs home by my brother but his circumstances changed and was going to have to go back there.* So i said that i would take him and i have never looked back.
When he came he was a timid dog who would shake and cower if he heard a loud noise, a raised voice or even if the tv was on loud, we also noticed a funny lump on his side and were told that it was likely a broken rib form being a young pup, this with is behaviour led us and the vet to believe he had been abused.
He is still quite nervy is some situations but is happy and confident.

This little lad came to us in December last year.

His previous owners quickly lost interest once the puppy phase had faded, despite having adopted him from Dogs Trust earlier that year. He was skinny, unsocialised and tossed into a filthy back yard to live out his days.

I couldn’t turn my back….
He is now much healthier and lives life to the full with our other rescue dog. He brings such light and laughter to our home. He’s gradually becoming more socialised, though still likes to give us a bit of a challenge out and about. Pretends to be tough, but a real softie underneath it all.

This Bearded Collie Cross was brought over from Ireland in appalling conditions and was rescued by me when she was 9 weeks old, into a warm and loving enviroment, which she had never, in her short life had ever known. She was flea ridden and had an upper respiratory infection from being kept on sawdust.
she is now 11 months old, and fighting fit. The photo was taken at 6 months old.

He had been given up for rehoming after just 2 weeks with the original family that bought him from his breeder
.
He has the most amazing temperament of any dog that I have ever had the privilege to own. Indoors he is Mister Layback but when out walking he is filled with a zest for life that is just magical to see. He lives to swim and would swim in a teacup if he could fit in it

He has passed his silver KC good citizens award and is now in the top class at the training club we go to.
He is so trustworthy indoors that he has never chewed anything up even as a tiny pup. He has a wonderful smile, a beautiiful nature and has brought sunshine into our lives.

On the first December 06 my 12 year old bitch died leaving me dogless & alone in my house . I was bereft & couldn't sleep but being slightly disabled felt it would not be fair to take on a new puppy. Three days later being unable to sleep Iwas browsing the internet at 3am when I saw a GSD who needed a new home.To cut a long story short within a week he was mine. In the last 8 months he has been my constant companion, He's lost 30 kilos & learnt to swim. He's taken his good citizens test & got me out to several companion shows. I think my guardian angel brought him to me that night.

He may not be the most handsome to most people but he is my gorgeous boy

He was rescued from an area where there are lots of drug dealers and people breed staffys be "tough". He was born with 5 others and the humans had bred a staffy with a mongrel in the hope of selling pups for lots of £ and when they were born they looked anything but staffy like so they were going to "get rid of them" I found out through a friend of a friend of a friend and chose this 1 as he brought me a polystyrene cup when I went to see them, they were fed scraps and shouted at and shut in a small room, thankfully all the others were rehomed aswell. He is my best friend & as you can see by his tummy trusts people so much now.

He has had a rough start to his life. His owners went away on holiday and while away told the people taking care of him and his sister they didn't want them anymore
