Class Three Best rescue

Welcome to Class Three, Best Rescue

Your Judge for this class is Dogsey member

Krusewalker

Click here for the : General FAQ for the Dogsey Virtual Companion Show

Please make your way to the ring and hand in your entries to the Collators as follows :

Pedigree/Purebreds to Zoeybeau1

Crossbreeds to Mahooli

As Show Secretary I would like to extend special thanks to both Collators, Zoeybeau1 having been poorly but still determined to Collate for this class, and Mahooli for volunteering even though it means her Collating for two classes in a row.
Much gratitude to you both

The reason for having two collators is to split the workload as entries for this class are anticipated to be large, many Dogsey members having given a forever home to a Rescue Dog :smt001
All entries will be posted to this thread.

Your dog does not have to have come from a formal Rescue Organisation to qualify for this class, nor do you need to say where your dog came from.
The criteria is `second hand` dog, or `was in desperate need` or `would have been at risk` if you had not taken your dog in to your home. It is up to entrants to decide if your dog qualifies for this class :smt001

Please put the name of the class as the title on your pm.

In the message body along with the photo you are submitting, please state :

Dogs name
Breed / type / mix [ if known or your best guess ]
Dogs Age [ as near as possible at the time the photo was taken ]
Where your dog came from, [ this is optional in case you are placed and would like it on the Virtual Rosette certificate, be it a Rescue Orgs name, or `Private Rescue` etc ].

Entrants may submit up to 50 words about your dog/s, [ please keep to this maximum ], but please do not mention the dogs name as it must be anonymous until the Judging has finished.

**AMMENDMENT**

I believe there is difficulty staying within 50 words, so, as the class has only just opened the Show Secretary has decided to increase this to 150 words for this class, but no more than 150 words - any going over the limit will be regrettably asked to re-write their piece.

If you have already made a submission and would like to reword it up to the new limit you may do so, but please make it clear to your Collator if its a complete re-write or just to be added to what you have already submitted.
The time limit for alterations is up to 24 hours from the time your entry appears in the `ring` so that the Collators can edit posts themselves without needing to ask a modley.

Do not put anything else in the pm.

You may enter one submission for each rescue dog. There is no limit on how many dogs you enter provided you are the owner/adopter/guardian of the dog/s.

No professional photos can be entered, they must have been taken by yourself or a friend / family member.

There is no set `pose` for this class, please simply enter a favourite photo

Do not post your own entries here, it will be done for you

Please do not post questions / comments on this thread until the class has officially closed.

Closing date for entries for this class will be 14/08/07

He was found wondering the streets of Glasgow and was never reclaimed. When we got him he was very thin and very hand shy and had clearly had a tough life.

Shortly after we got him, a friend had taken him out for a walk and raised her arm to throw his toy – he thought she was going to hit him and legged it straight back to our house. Although I was sad that he was so frightened, I was proud that he already recognised our house as a safe haven.

As time has gone on, he has gained so much confidence that he will now approach anyone for some attention. He is the most loyal yet un-demanding dog I know and I’m not sure that any dog we have in future will match him for these qualities.

When she arrived at the rescue she weighed twice what she should and looked like a big white barrel. Once we started exercising her we realised that she had problems with her leg and various investigations finally identified that she had ruptured her cruciate ligament some time previously.

The problems with her leg and her size (she was unable to reach her back end with her head) resulted in her being very sensitive about her rear end and she would snarl whenever it was touched, or even when she thought it was going to be.

8 months and one operation later she is nearly 100% fit and now prefers playing to eating and she is getting used to her tail/bum/legs being touched (and can now reach these herself!)

She has turned out to have a wonderful nature, so eager to please and we love her dearly

Rescued trying to dodge cars in the street in Ireland when she was approximately 10 / 12 weeks old. She is deaf [ diagnosed as inflicted injury ], and has a cloudy eye due to something having been pushed in to it, not believed by vet to have been accidental...
Initially a little shy she now loves meeting new people and other dogs, a bundle of fun who loves to learn through play and is a joyful addition, a pleasure in every way.

I nominate this dog for best rescue she was a stray for the third time in as many months from a very rough area.
Many residents around this area use this breed for fighting and breeding with no thought for their welfare .
She suffered from allergies and scratched so much she would bleed.
She had been used for pups and was never secure in her home, running away and risking getting run over or being picked up and used for fighting.
She was spayed as she suffered severe phantom pregnancies,

She has since learnt to swim, has learnt many tricks that she enjoys performing and plays well with many dogs now.

She became an "aunty" when my nephew was born and where ever he goes she goes! She adores him!

She is a friendly, affection happy little girl!

i had a email 3 years ago about two rotties that were looking for a new home, we went to see them both, the bitch came in and growled at my daughter so we knew that we couldn't take her, then the other one came in, layed down and rolled over for her to stroke him.
we took him for a walk and then said we would take him.
he came to live with us that day and we aint looked back.
he is a gentle giant who loves everyone and everything,it feels like he has been here forever and is so much a big part of our family. i am so glad i got that email that day and went to see him
he is my big cuddle monster and perfect in every way

This little lady came to live with us at the age of 2, she weighed the same as she did when she was a 9 month old pup, was skin and bones with what little fur she had tightly matted to her body.

If you raised your voice she would hit the deck and quiver, she had obviously been beaten during her short life. When I went to collect her the children had her hidden in the wardrobe, it seemed she spent most of her days shut in there, out of the way.

It didn't take long for her to get back to a normal condition and she hasn't looked back.

She has to be one of the most friendliest dogs you could meet and will do her upmost to get cuddles from you, even to the point of becoming pushy.

We adopted our Greyhound/Saluki cross via the rescue centre. She has a hole in the heart and could not go into kennels because she gets too stressed out.
Her previous owner was emigrating so a home had to be found pretty quickly. How lucky, that we were looking for a doggie at the right time.
She adores humans of all sizes as well as other dogs and she has a distinctive howl that means come play with me! She is well know in the area because of this.
Despite of her heart she loves nothing better than to run, but she knows when she has done enough and will walk quietly for a while then off she goes again

he was given up by his first owners because he was still doing poos in the house at 8 months old He lived in a very posh area of Edinburgh but people with money can be just as cruel to their pets. I think they used to get mad at him because he now has a problem with eating poo. He was sent to live with a woman who already had dogs and she put him up for adoption(This was never intended to be his permanent home) Once he was put up for adoption there were 30 applications for him but we were the lucky winners. He was only 6kg when we got him but within 2 weeks he was 8 kg. At first he used to growl while he was eating as he was so hungry. I think they had been starving him so he wouldn't poo so much. He has now become fairly reliable at doing his poos and wees outside. He is an early riser (5.30) but we don't mind too much. He loves his new brother Sam and his forever home with us, and we love him to bits. His favourite thing is having his tum tickled!

i got her from a guy in the north down area of northern ireland , he had bought her as a young pup from a responsible breeder in belfast , he had decided to get rid of her due to to much commitment involved ,
I rescued her from him at the age of 12 weeks she was a nervous back of dehydrated bones , she was cowling in the corner of a small run in a very run down back yard , standing in her own faeces and urine with no sign of food or water and the run was no bigger than a large cardboard box , i took her home to my vet and she was kept in on a drip and was later told she had a blow to the head which resulted in a cracked skull and had also had her jaw broken , it was nearly 5 months before we could get her to trust us enough just to give her a cuddle , she is still very frightened of strangers men in particular , she has also various health complaints skin allergies and an over active thyroid , to this day i dare not raise my voice or make any sudden loud noises or movements towards her as the result is my beautiful girl cowling once agin in fear ,she has slowly becan to accept members of the family although she is always very wary , and she still has posssesion problems with treats and food .
