"dalmatians are mean" EH?!

I just wanted to find out if this is a common thought amongst the public?

I've never heard this but my mum said recently that she'd had quite a few people say that dallies are 'mean'. I laughed it off thinking I've never heard that - how ridiculous until the next day when we were walking through the park and came close to two young girls.
One said 'aww dalmatians!' as usual and the other said 'yeah but Dalmatians are actually really mean'

I've never heard anyone consider dalmatians to be 'mean'

LOL all athe dallys iv met are just a bit wired!

I've heard people say they have loads of energy and can be a bit loopy but I've never heard them described as 'mean' before.

Can't say I've ever heard that myself.

I knew a friend a few years ago who had a lovely dally boy and his only vice was that he was a bit loopy, got on great with the boxers!

There is a bitch in the village here who is very anti-social towards other dogs but is an absolute gem towards people, her anxiety towards other dogs probably stems from some issue she has, I certainly haven't known any Dalmations who have been mean!

Lol - yeah it's indisputable that they have a lot of energy and 'a bit wired'

I'm so glad it's not a common misconception (misconception imo anyway) I have to admit I was worried they'd become the new 'dangerous dog' with all the bad press etc

I've only heard that they are quite hard to train due to having a mind of their own. The one I knew(Bindi) was lovely and adored Sam and the feeling was mutual.

yeah elmac, a lot of people think they're hard to train when in fact they're not. They're very clever - they just need keeping busy and don't respond well to most punishment techniques as they sulk!
