Hi all, sorry not been her for a long time

Hi Guys, again sorry for my absence. I have been, and still am, going through a bad patch health wise.
Unfortunatly I have had to reduce my working hours because of this.
My wife has suggested she would like to start a "dog walking business" to supplement our income, and I have a few questions.

As money is tight advertising in the paper is not a good option at the moment, so where else would be a good place to advertise?

Is there a demand for this type of business?

What would be a reasonable rate to ask for?

We would appreciate any replies help and suggestions on this matter please.
We are aware that we would need insurance.

Im a dog walker and have been in business for two & half years and found the local paper the best form of advertising esp at the moment as many people get puppys at this time of year, newsagent didnt get me any phonecalls pet shops are good as are vets - if you get some business cards made up most vets will leave them on the counter for clients to take, contact any local dog training groups and give them cards too.
I would look into getting third party liability insurance too and a website is a great help.

Hope that info helps if you have any more questions just ask. mel

Oh forgot to say the price you charge depends on where you live.

Welcome back freddunn, hope your health continues to improve.
I have no knowledge of dog walking, but I would think there was always a call for a reliable dog walker.
It would probably do you good too and help build your strength.
All the very best in your venture

Our local post office window is always full of business cards!

How about approaching your local ringcraft/dog-training classes, you have a ready-made market there!!!!:smt002

I've taken out a subscription with NARP which includes 3rd party insurance. Had a enquiry yesterday, but could not take it as the person wanted specific times. As my wife and I both have our normal jobs we can only do it in our spare time. And if it picks up she can reduce her hours at work and take more dog walking on.
It's always the same when building a business.
