Preserving birthday Cake?

Does anyone know if you can preserve birthday cake? My dad made me a special cake for my 18th and i wanted to preserve a piece of it, but i am not really sure how to do it.

Anyone know anyone who can do it or have any ideas on how to do it?

Frances

if you parcel it up in baking parchment its like grease proove paper but its better for wrapping food up once you have done this put it in a tupperware container if you have one or another container with a good seal on it and put it in the freezer it will be ok hope this helps

thanks blue merle,

i mean like presevering it for memory, like to save as a keep sake.

When i was born the first toy my dad ever bought me was a yellow elephant, so on my birthday he made me a cake which was 18 yellow elephants all in a row and i want to save one of them, so i need to preserve it

anyone else got any ideas?

What kind of cake is it? If its a rich fruit, marzipaned & iced you could take the icing off & make sure its all completely covered by marzipan, then wrap it in grease proof/parchment & then box it & keep in a dry place
