Back or back legs problem?

Hi

We have 3,5 year old Beagle. She is very active and lively, loves running and so on.

About a week ago we have noticed that she was struggling a bit while going up the stairs - instead of taking 2 steps in on go she was much slower and taking only one at a tme

We started watching closely and the same appeared few times again, usually after she was sleeping. This morning she was struggling with jumping on the bed, we had to help her.

She is not squeaking or showing any other kind of pain, but it is visible that she is having problem with jumping up or going up the stairs

We know that Beagles have problems with back legs quite often, but also she is very young...

We are due to see vet tomorrow, but in a meantime we would really appreciate any advise you might give us

Thanks

TBH this could be anything from a muscle strain say of the ilopsoas to spondylosis, so rather than speculate, let the vet have a good look.

Use the time by trying to provide the vet with al the relevant info and write down onset, change, injuries, etc etc

I would get a vet to look at her and do x-rays. We thought Dillon had a cruciate problem and he was referred for that to the RVC they said they thought hips so they were x-rayed and his knees and his knees are fine. He has mild hip dysplasia at 6 months old.

It can be managed and he should be fine it has been found early and we can now deal with the right diagnosis. He is doing fine and enjoying exercise again although low impact for now to start building muscle up which he lost due to being rested for cruciate when it wasn't that at all.

Like SB says it might only be a sprain but it is worth getting it checked out.

possible cruciate or hips, or just a pulled muscle. but definetly worth a wee trip to vet
