How can you make rice more 'interesting'?

or tasty!

However not too 'flavoured' just enough to give it a bit of taste.

At the mo I put a chicken breast in the oven, and then on the top shelf some brown rice and peas in a tin dish covered - for 35 mins.

It tastes ok - just a tad plain!

Should I add salt? Any other herbs? I don't want it too flavoured mind, as I am trying to eat as clean as possible

Anyway wondered what you super chefs would do

Ah, I would make my own chicken tandoori to make rice taste nice!! Or make a chicken, mushroom and bacon risotto instead.

Suppose you could use one or some of the following:
Soy sauce
Chilli sauce
Fresh coriander
Sweetcorn
Lea & Perrins

Honestly don't see how you can just eat chicken breast, rice and peas - how bland!!

Although I don't eat as well as you, I make lots of interesting things from scratch! Curries, risottos, chillis etc, they all make rice taste of something.

I'd add a bit of dark soy sauce and maybe some coriander.

I'm with shelley though, the more flavour the better!! Speaking of which when are we going to see this infamous chicken tandoori recipe in the Indian recipe section or is it a secret recipe?!?

When I was growing up my best mate was West Indian, well, her parents were, she loved to cook and always did the sunday roast, when cooking rice she always added creamed coconut, its quite subtle but makes a huge difference.

Yep, all that, I grew up on the stuff, practically lived in their house

Then did the sensible thing and shared a flat with her for 7 years where she did all the cooking

Azz, I think I would fry a little garlic and some pine nuts and add to the rice with some chopped fresh pepper for some crunch!

Chicken & Bacon stir fry!
I cook the chicken and bacon in a wok and then add the rice & veg with a touch of soy sauce!

If its only enough rice for you and you only want it a little fragrant, squeeze a quarter of a lime or a lemon into the rice as its cooking. Or crush one clove of garlic and add that.
Herbs which are quite nice with rice: basil, lemon thyme, rosemary, oregano, chives - even mint! You'll have to experiment with quantities as to what you prefer as flavouring, but I tend to use a small handful of torn basil leaves for the two of us. Just a small sprig of rosemary as its quite strong - sometimes I even use a flowering top of lavender!
Happy experimenting!
