Butter or margarine?

Well, I always eat butter myself. Not a huge amount...just on toast.. They give me pats of it when I go to the Traditional Farms, as they make it there from the milk from their gentle cattle.. Live the taste. As I was making a picnic for the visitors I bought one of the " buttery" spreads.. Kerrymaid they call it.. Just tried some on my morning toast and YUKK..Never again! back to the real deal for me... mushrooms fried in real butter! YUM!! NB I dont have a weight problem, quite the opposite

I have always eaten butter but like all things in moderation .
I never followed the trend for spreads, they involve too much processing for my liking. It turns out now that some of them contained hydrogenated vegetable protein which has been found to be far more harmful than butter ever was.

Butter for me too. I also read that Meg and some of the margarines are actually white they colour them yellow.
I do keep spread in the fridge Flora light. I usually mostly use butter though.

I use both, very little of either tbh, bertolli spreadable straight from the fridge or Kerrygold that needs a bit cut off and nuked for a few seconds in the microwave to be spreadable. Butter is considered to be much better for you these days. Don't really like the taste of either if I'm honest. If making a sandwich I'll skip the butter and use Mayo instead and toast is spread with peanut butter.

Enjoy! I never read any of the health theories. Food is to be enjoyed.... LOVE butter!I grew up in and after the war when we had MARGARINE or BEST BUTTER, so I still see butter as a luxury..some morning are peanut butter days, some are BEST BUTTER days.. I buy Tesco everyday basics so not expensive either but always IRISH

I am used to the colouring as goat butter is white; had a goat many years and made cheese etc, Traditionally they use a natural dye called annatto

Due to health issues OH has to use a very low fat spread but if I do make cakes or biscuits as a treat I always use 100% pure butter.
