Get off your phone!!

I was walking the dogs the other day, and seeing a man come the other way I got both dogs on a lead, and saw that he had two off lead Springers, anyway he stayed on his phone, one dog shot past Honey and Diesel barking, running past them and then running back to the owner and doing this repeatadly, which made Honey very nervous, I've never seen so much hackle raising with her before, normally its just tails and ears that I look at, but almost all of her hackles from head to tail was raised, and not because she was being aggressive, because she was made nervous by this strange behaviour, the dog was getting right up close to one side of me, but the owner just stayed on his phone the other dog then started coming straight towards my two, kind of in a collir crouch, but walking straight towards them, then when it got closer starting to run, and barking and growling, and not in a play way, the whole stare it was giving them, and the noises were very intense, and this point I told him to get of his phone before a fight happens, but it still took a while for him to do this, and then when he did put his phone down he felt the need to sigh at me as if it was all my fault I can tell you he did get a bit of a mouthfull then, and the rest of the walk Honey wasn't her normal self, and reacted when she saw another dog that she knew, hopefully next time she see's a dog she wont though.

ooohhh i had something similar the other week

i was on the field with ruby and i see a guy come on with a little pug so i get ruby back on the lead before she has had chance to see the pug, and sets off walking down the middle of the field to go home, the guy with the pug was walking along the edge of the field when the pug spots ruby and runs acros the field to her, the guy slowy following shouting the dog which is ignoring him and is now playing with ruby (running in circle round her while ruby tries to splat the pug ) this was ok gets ruby a bit of socialisation with a friendly little dog for a minute till owner gets to his dog ................ oh no the owners phone goes as he's walking over so he answers, gets to where we are and stands talking on his phone for a good 5 mins, while im trying to move away with ruby and failing misrably as the pug wouldnt leave her alone so i give up and stand and wait for him to finish his call, he finishes his call, ask how old ruby is then picks the pug up and says see ya no apology and to make it worse he didnt even have a collar or lead for his dog

Really annoying. I can't stand it when people do that! Happens far too often though lately.

you would think it would be teenagers doing this but here it's mostly middle aged people, and it's the same people every day
.I've lost count of the times dogs have come running up to my dog who is on a lead and the owner is on the other side of the field taking a very important call while their dog is trying to make friends with my grumpy dog and they always end up being used as a trampoline .Then of course when they hear their dogs screams it's all mine and my dogs fault ( if they can be bothered to prise the precious thing off their ear , phone not dog unfortunately)

What ever happened to walking the dog as a fun activity and a time for you to bond?? Seems more people see it as a chore that takes them away from their precious business/social life

I've noticed this more and more lately. People walk their dogs or push kiddies in prams or pushchairs and take no notice of them or their surroundings but just talk on their phones all the time.

I mentioned this to my husband and said I talk to the dogs whilst I am walking them and he then wanted to know what I talked about!

I think it is their time though and you should be concentrating on the walk and certainly not letting your dog being a nuisance or threatening to anyone else's.

This bugs me as well, people just let their dogs come up to yours, imy two are ok with other dogs but i always think if i see another dog on a lead i put mine on just in case, i wouldn't let mine go up to a on lead dog.

Mobile phones and ipods - ive seen mothers with children in prams with ipods on, they don't have any interaction with the kids whatsoever, no wonder some kids can't talk properly these day - the parents ignore them !

Lol I talk to my dogs when I'm out to. Either making stupid noises at them, telling them what we're doing or shouting at them to "GET BACK HERE!" when they decide to do zoomies up the track!

iPods are worse...people totally and completely blank you when they've got headphones in their ears and completely ignore the behaviour of their dog.
