Well that's an unusual first post but welcome to Dogsey!

..... and we are always happy to help so I found this recipe.... http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/1572/...rye-bread.aspx

Bet it's not as good as home made rye bread from your childhood but worth a go.

Welcome to Dogsey, Shyannka!
Treacle is a thick sticky sweet substance, sold in tins, readily available in Sainsburys/Morrisons/Waitrose anywhere really.

Oh yes, you are in the US so you may need to get to a deli or specialist food shop for your treacle.
It's a like a thick dark sugar syrup.

I can remember having huge problems buying mint sauce for my roast dinner when I lived in California.

I think it's known as mollasses in the states It's a by-product from the processing of sugar cane and sugar beet into sugar.
